Temperance and the inner row
Temperance's patient blend, then the whole second row from Strength to Temperance as one inner journey, so you can place any of its seven cards in a reading.
In this lesson you will
- Recognize Temperance from its key symbols and read it across its range.
- Tell Temperance from the Two of Pentacles.
- Place each card of the second row, VIII to XIV, as a step in one inner journey.
After a big change, such as a move, a breakup or a new job, there is often a strange in-between time. The old life and the new one are both there, and they do not fit together yet.
The end of the inner row
Temperance (XIV) closes the second row of the Majors. It is the card of blending: two things poured together, patiently, until they become one new thing. After the courage, solitude, change, honesty, surrender and endings of the row, Temperance is where it all comes together.
Temperance does not mean doing less of everything. It means finding the right mix: enough of this, enough of that, in a measure that works for you now. The angel in the picture is not in a hurry, and does not spill.
This lesson teaches Temperance, then looks back over the whole second row as one inner journey, so that you can place any of its seven cards when it appears.
