The Sixes: finding balance again
After the strain of the Fives, the Sixes show recovery: something given and received. Learn the four Sixes, and why the Six of Swords is still on its way.
In this lesson you will
- Explain how Six restores balance after the Five in each suit.
- Read the Six of Swords as a transition under way, not harmony reached.
- Tell the Six of Swords from the Eight of Cups when someone is leaving.
- Read two Sixes together in a short reading.
Making up after a quarrel, paying back a favor, finally leaving a hard situation behind: after trouble, life looks for a new balance. The four Sixes are the deck's four ways of finding it.
The idea of Six
In The numbers, Ace to Ten, as one story you met Six as exchange and harmony after difficulty. It follows the Five's strain: the conflict has passed, and something flows between people again, whether recognition, kindness, help or money. Giving and receiving is the heart of the number.
So a Six usually brings relief, but it is a recovery, not a final reward. The suit tells you what is being exchanged, and one Six shows that the recovery may still be a journey.
| Six | Element | What flows again |
|---|---|---|
| Wands | Fire | Recognition: success seen and shared |
| Cups | Water | Kindness: memories, simple care, a gift from the heart |
| Swords | Air | Relief: leaving trouble behind for calmer ground |
| Pentacles | Earth | Help: money, time or support given and received |
