Waiting, rushing and balance
Three cards that often meet a decision: The Hanged Man's pause, the Knight of Swords' charge and Temperance's blend, each with a light and a shadow, read in the position where they land.
In this lesson you will
- Tell a useful pause from avoidance, and decisive speed from rushing.
- Read The Hanged Man, the Knight of Swords and Temperance in a decision by their position.
- Recognize when a blend of both options is a real third path, and when it is only a way of not choosing.
You have a job offer and three days to answer. One part of you wants to say yes tonight, another wants to wait until you feel sure, and a third keeps looking for a way to have both. All three voices have a card.
Every decision card has two sides
Waiting, moving fast and finding a middle way can each be wise or unwise. The card does not tell you which; the position and your situation do.
| Card | Its light in a decision | Its shadow in a decision |
|---|---|---|
| The Hanged Man | A chosen pause that lets you see the matter differently | Waiting so long that the pause becomes stalling |
| Knight of Swords | Decisive action once the facts are clear | Charging ahead before the facts are in |
| Temperance | A measured blend of both options, at a pace you can keep | Mixing everything to avoid choosing anything |
When one of these cards appears, ask which side of it you are living now, and which side the position asks you to move toward.
