Asked whether someone else is present, the Hierophant answers with structure instead: what the two of you agreed, spoke aloud or merely assumed. There may be no third person and no shared rule either. Find out what they believe was promised, because two people can be entirely faithful to different agreements.

Reversed, the old rules no longer fit and nobody has written new ones. Exclusivity was assumed early and never revisited, and the silence around it has been convenient for both of you. This is a conversation rather than an accusation, and it is overdue by some months.

This card rarely arrives to confirm a rival. It arrives because a choice is being made, and it may be yours as much as theirs: what you are willing to accept, and for how long. If another person is present, the matter is being settled by actions, not by declarations of feeling.

Reversed, this points less to a third person than to a divided attention that has never been named out loud. Two possible lives are being kept open, not out of cruelty but because choosing costs something. Notice whether you have been making it easy for them to avoid choosing.

Reversed, the grip loosens on one side and tightens on the other. Either they are stepping back from whatever has been feeding on their attention, or you are the one who cannot put the suspicion down. Both versions ask the same thing: what are you getting from staying inside the uncertainty?

Asked whether someone else is in the picture, the Moon does not hand you a name. It points at the fog itself: half-answers, a phone turned face down, plans that blur when you ask twice. What it confirms is that you are being kept in partial light, and that the not-knowing is costing you more than the truth would.

Reversed, the fog tends to lift rather than thicken. Something you half-saw is about to have an ordinary explanation, or the story you built at two in the morning starts coming apart in daylight. Ask the plain question once, in plain words, and watch what happens to your own shoulders.

Rarely does this card arrive over a hidden third person. What it shows is a life lived in the open: plans made in front of you, a phone left on the table, friends who already know your name. If the fear has no specific evidence behind it, the Sun suggests the fear is what needs tending.

Reversed, the openness is partial. Most of their life is visible and one corner is not, and you have made that corner mean everything. Ask about it in daylight, without the accusation attached, and most of the time the answer is disappointingly ordinary. If it is not, you will know quickly.

Upright

Someone is pursuing, and being pursued is different from being chosen. The Knight of Wands describes attention arriving fast and warm: a new colleague, a name that reappeared, a flirtation that flatters. Whether it becomes anything depends on what is missing at home, not on how charming the pursuer is.

Reversed, the heat has already passed its peak. Something started and did not hold, or the interest was never serious enough to survive an ordinary week. Do not build a case on an episode that is already cooling. Look instead at what made them available to it in the first place.

In answer to this question, the Three of Cups usually means people rather than romance: a group they belong to, a circle where you are not present. Someone in that circle has their ear. Before you name it betrayal, look at whether the problem is another person or a part of their life you have never been invited into.

Reversed, the circle closes. Plans get mentioned after they happen, names come up once and never again, and you are told about the evening rather than included in it. That is worth asking about directly. It is not proof of a rival, but it is proof that part of their life has a door you were not given.

The trouble here is not a rival but a crowd of possibilities. Several futures are being kept open at once, including a move, an old option, a version of life you are not in, and none of them has been chosen. Vagueness feels kinder to the person holding it. It is not kinder to you.

Reversed, the daydreams thin out and one option becomes real. That is good news even if the chosen future is not the one you wanted, because you can finally respond to something solid. Watch for the week where the talk stops running on maybes and starts naming dates.

You already have enough to draw a conclusion and you are choosing not to. The Two of Swords describes the blindfold kept on because taking it off obliges you to act. Ask what you would have to do on Monday if the answer turned out to be yes, and you will know why you are still asking.

Reversed, the blindfold comes off whether you planned it or not. A conversation you cannot postpone is close, and your instinct will be to fill the silence with reassurance. Let the silence sit instead. What people say after an unhurried pause is usually nearer the truth than what they say quickly.

This is the card most people dread here, and it does speak of a wound, but usually one already delivered rather than one waiting. Something was said, or found, and you have been carrying it without letting yourself call it what it is. The relief you want starts with saying it once, plainly, to them.

Reversed, the ache is older than this relationship. A previous betrayal taught you where to look, and you have been looking here with the same eyes. That does not make you wrong, but it does mean the alarm goes off before the evidence arrives. Separate what this person has done from what the last one did.

Upright

The Seven of Swords answers this with concealment rather than romance. Something is being handled quietly: a message deleted, an evening rounded off, a detail left out because leaving it out is easier. Look at the small edits, because the habit of hiding matters more here than whatever is being hidden.

Reversed

Reversed, what was hidden starts to slip. A story stops matching an earlier story, or something gets volunteered before you ask. This is more often the point where a secret becomes tiring to keep than the point where it is caught. Decide what you will do with the answer before you go looking for it.
